Faux vs For Real Floral

Flowers are one of the most simple, yet elegant pieces of decor for your wedding. They can be used in so many ways and bring that perfect touch of natural beauty to the day. It probably feels like there are endless options when it comes to floral arrangements and what can be done with them. Below are a few ways to use your floral arrangements to the fullest extent and save some money while your at it; but, before we start talking about where to put your flowers, let's discuss some of the pros and cons to having real flowers, fake florals, or a mix of both throughout your wedding.

Pros and Cons of Real Flowers

The best aspect of real flowers is just that, they are real! You’ll get every natural smell, beautiful colour, and soft touch the flowers in your garden give you! Real flowers can also make beautiful gifts for family members or your bridal party members after the day is done.

However, a few cons of real flowers are that they can also be quite fragile and require a bit more attention than your faux bouquet or arch arrangement. Real flowers usually have to be placed in water (especially in those humid Manitoba summer days) and then hung to dry or professionally preserved after your wedding.

Pros and Cons to Faux Flowers

Faux flowers are very easy going and require little to no maintenance and can be kept for years to come by holding the same form they did on your wedding, they can also be re-used or sold after your wedding to stay within your budget

The biggest con of faux flowers and greenery is that a lot of the time you can tell that they aren't real and they don't give quite the same aesthetic as real flowers. The second con is sourcing these faux flowers, as you want to make sure they still throw off that vibrant and beautiful touch of real flowers, but not look like they are about to fall a part or are not real.

All flowers are gorgeous and they are a great way to add natural beauty to your day and decor. No matter what florals you choose, they will be your florals and remind you of one of the best days of your life.

Lets Talk (Floral) Decor!

So, if you’ve gotten this far, you’ve probably chosen what types of flowers (faux or real) you’ll be using at your wedding! Next is deciding how to use these flowers to get the most value out of them, while still having beautiful elements of decor throughout your venue.

Ceremony Flowers

A beautiful addition to any ceremony includes floral arrangements on your arch, or along your aisle way.  Imagine beautiful rows of white petals lining your aisle, or a few simple and elegant arrangements that will compliment your bridal bouquet and bring a pop of colour to your ceremony.

You could have a full floral archway where gorgeous flowers will surround you while saying your “I-Do’s” and will create a beautiful photo back drop. Or have an elegant and simple corner piece on your wood arch that will compliment your bouquet and bridal party ware.

Small arrangements

We’re talking about bouquets, boutineers and corsages! Are these all really necessary? Absolutely not, but they can be seen as beautiful gifts, and show a special family member how much you love and appreciate them being there. Bouquets can make dazzling colour popping decor to any reception table that may be missing something. Maybe a dessert table or guest book table that does not need a full arrangement of it’s own, but you want that pop of colour to bring it all together.

Head Table or Sweetheart Table Decor

Your table will be the space everyone will be looking at all evening and can be just as beautiful and radiant when you re-use your ceremony decor there. Why not place the entire floral arch behind where you and your new partner are seated, or, use that simple corner piece as your accent at your head table. Any medium-large aisle arrangements can also be used here or other large places around your venue, like a fireplace or lounging area!

Guest Tables

A simple small arrangement or even single stemmed rose arranged in a vase on your guest tables will truly bring together the look. Letting every guest enjoy the smell or elegant sight of the most simple floral decor will make them feel as though they are at the most important table. These can be small arrangements you had lining your aisles, or something you let each table take home to enjoy for the days (or years) to come. But having florals entwined at your guest tables will never go out of style and will always be noticed by everyone.

Oh there is so much that can be done with flowers! Finding the right florist and wedding planner to help bring these visions to life will not be something you regret for your day!
