Who are you, what you do and who you serve?
Lily Stone Gardens is owned by Kelly and Roland Tellier, and is located just outside the charming town of Rosenort, MB. Our business has grown and evolved over the years into a year-round florist/gift shop, seasonal cut flower farm and flower U-Pick, wedding floral studio, wedding and event venue, and our Lily Stone Cafe. Currently, Lily Stone employs between 15 - 20 lovely individuals at any given time that possess incredible talents such as wedding floral design, growing and maintaining a 2 acre flower farm, ensuring our couples have a beautiful, warm and welcoming space to host their wedding in as well as whipping up some of the best food and cinnamon buns in all of southern Manitoba.
What services do you offer?
Lily Stone Gardens is a one-stop-shop for thoughtful and floral-forward weddings. We offer wedding floral services for full service clients and a la carte orders for pick-up, operate a beautiful event venue space, and facilitate catering and bartending services as well for streamlined wedding planning. You can level up your wedding day with a brunch spread while getting ready in our bridal cottage, customized seed packets as guest favors, and take your wedding photos amongst our flower gardens. We seriously do a little bit of everything here!
How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to start a venue?
After years of loading a trailer and hauling buckets of blooms to farmers markets, we started dabbling more into selling flowers to florists and then began taking floral orders of our own for weddings. At our highest point we were designing, delivering and setting up 90 weddings per season. Our new venue space allows us to focus our energy and unleash our creativity in a space where we set the rules on what is possible.
What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?
Working in the wedding and event industry has brought so many special memories for us individually and as a team over the years. It is incredibly special for us to play a role during such a pivotal chapter in our couples’ lives. It is even more special when our wedding couples come back to say ‘hello’ and catch up with us; these lasting relationships are the most rewarding of all!
What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing a venue?
There is a lot to consider when selecting your wedding venue. Consider the overall style you envision for your wedding and tour venues that are already in line with the look and feel you’d like to achieve. This includes physical features like the lighting and design style, but also the overall atmosphere and mood that the space evokes. Also be sure to review what is all included and permitted in your venue rental to ensure that you can plan the rest of your day accordingly. We know reading contracts is less glamorous than curating a Pinterest board, but a firm understanding of these details is sure to set you up for success.
What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?
For the floral side of our business, we generally start our consults in fall for the following season. For example, in fall 2023 we started working on our summer 2024 weddings. On the venue side, our books for the 2025 season are already open. As a general rule, it is ideal to get in touch with us with as much notice as possible to ensure your planning process does not feel rushed. If you’d like to know if our books are open for a specific season, please submit an inquiry form on our website & we can let you know!
What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?
At all stages of the wedding planning process, it is important to reflect on what is important to you as a couple. Embrace the traditions that resonate with you, and give yourself permission to opt out the things that don’t align with who you are. For example, if you don’t want boutonnieres, don’t order them. There are no rules here; this is your day to enjoy!
Can you share your favorite wedding trend or design idea that you're currently excited about?
The use of colour in wedding designs is something that will forever be trending in our hearts; it’s been so fun these past few seasons to see our couples opening up to using colour again. From full on rich & bold palettes to pops of concentrated shades, we love using colour to infuse your personality and style into your wedding day. Our favorite way to do so is the use of locally grown flowers, especially varieties produced right here on our flower farm. Despite our frigid winters, you wouldn’t believe the beautiful flowers that we can produce right here in Manitoba!
How do you stand out?
Our ability to provide streamlined, professional, all-inclusivel services allows our couples to enjoy their wedding planning process and to feel at ease on their big day. Our team here at Lily Stone is full of kind, caring folks who don’t think twice before going the extra mile to ensure that your wedding or event is nothing short of spectacular.
Anything else you would like to mention?
While we are having heaps of fun here at our Lily Stone venue, we continue to offer our a la carte wedding flower orders for pick-up. This is often an excellent match for couples with small to medium floral orders; think, bouquets, family flowers, some centerpieces, and maybe some statement arrangements for your ceremony or reception. So if you gravitate towards lush, garden-inspired designs and love the idea of embracing seasonal Manitoba grown flowers, we’d love to chat through your floral dreams with you!
