Who are you, what you do and who you serve?

We are a small stationery studio that specializes in modern romantic stationery with some old world touches. We cater to couples, events and businesses but our main clientele are weddings.

What services do you offer?

We love to emphasize that we are a design service. Our most popular offerings include full custom and semi custom stationery design, statement signages (builds & designs) and digital products (digitized artwork; monograms, venue illustrations, etc.)

How did you get started in the wedding industry, and what inspired you to start a stationery business?

We are in our fourth year of business, officially turning 4 in September! The thought of creating stationery was always in the back of my mind, I loved creating and offered to design stationery for family members but I never thought it would be possible as a career. It wasn't until I was in university studying architecture that I realized that I might finally have the skillset to try. With my own wedding as a guinea pig, I did my first full design! A year later Paper and Palm was born.

What do you enjoy most about working in the wedding industry and serving couples on their special day?

I love getting to know my couples and making their stationery dreams come true! I love hearing them talk about how excited they are about their wedding. I work with most of my couples for 6 months to a year (or more), we are in constant communication and I think it's so special to be a part of their journey from beginning to end!

What do you believe is the most important consideration when couples are choosing a stationer?

I think it's important to take some time going through your potential stationer's portfolio and see if their work resonates with you! Most stationers work with an understanding of their art/design style, being on the same frequency will make the process so much easier and a lot less stressful!

What is the ideal timeline for couples to book your services in advance of their wedding day?

Ideally, we recommend that couples reach out to us as soon as they have a date and a venue! We begin working with couples as early as 9-18 months in advance, sometimes even earlier for destination weddings! Due to the custom nature of our work, we only take a limited amount of projects per year to ensure that each project gets the time and the attention it deserves -- So the earlier the better!

What is the best piece of advice you would offer to couples planning their wedding?

Focus on what's important to you and don't sweat the small stuff! Create your own rules and do what makes sense for you as a couple. Remember that at the end of the day, this is a day to celebrate you and your partner!

Can you share your favorite wedding trend or design idea that you're currently excited about?

I'm not sure if it's a trend but I'm really excited about the increase of appreciation that stationers are getting! I think it's so important to educate our clients as well as our fellow vendors what our services entail! It's more than just paper.

How do you stand out?

Art is at the heart of our studio. We love telling a story with our designs, especially through art! We embrace the traditional ways of doing things; hand drawing, hand painting, letterpress printing, using hand pulled paper, etc. -- We set out to create heirloom worthy pieces!

Anything else you would like to mention?

We go above and beyond for our clients! Fun fact: Research is surprisingly one of the most time consuming parts of our job! Whether it's testing new materials, spending hours researching paper and suppliers or studying to get our art pieces as accurate as possible! Design definitely takes more time than most people think!
